Lanzarote: The Island of Eternal Spring
With temperatures hovering around 25°C year-round, a gentle dry wind, and rare rainfall, the island of Lanzarote enjoys a spring-like climate all year long, conducive to continuously blooming and rejuvenated vegetation.
We particularly enjoyed the vegetation of Lanzarote, which is a charming natural spectacle at every corner, along the beaches, in nature reserves, and even on roundabouts!
Cactus Flowers: Rare, Fragile, and Beautiful
Lanzarote is known for its numerous varieties of cacti, of all shapes and sizes. Some specimens are taller than houses!
Since the island experiences a spring-like climate all year round, cacti are often in bloom, and it's a spectacle we had rarely seen before.
Cactus flowers are very colorful, yellow, red, and provide an ideal refuge for bees and other pollinating insects.
We loved the contrast between the prickly and inhospitable aspect of cacti, and their fragile, colorful, and soothing flowers.
Aloe Vera: The Plant as Beautiful as it is Beneficial
Lanzarote, like other Canary Islands, is a sanctuary for Aloe Vera.
Thousands of this plant species can be found on the island.
What's incredible is that no matter where on the island of Lanzarote we observed Aloe Vera, these plants were all in bloom at the same time.
The Aloe Vera plant is well known for its medicinal properties, notably thanks to the gel contained in its leaves. In fact, in Lanzarote, some organic cosmetics shops offer products based on Aloe Vera.
The Aloe Vera flower is spectacular because, at the center of the plant, a long stem grows, at the end of which blooms this bright yellow flower. We can imagine the effort this slow-growing plant must make to bloom so incredibly and disproportionately.
Bougainvillea: A Cascade of Colors
Of all the flowers in Lanzarote, it is the Bougainvillea that offers the most striking spectacle!
We observed them on the facades of houses and hotels, in gardens, and even in the wild. These climbing trees are in bloom all year round in Lanzarote, and not only are they highly appreciated by butterflies and bees, but they also offer an incredible visual effect with the blue sky and the white facades of the island. The contrast is very vivid.
Bougainvillea flower clusters are composed of pink, red, purple, or white flowers, and they contribute to transforming the streets and gardens into true natural works of art. We loved photographing these flowers.
Where to See Beautiful Flowers in Lanzarote?
The answer is simple: Everywhere! The island is a veritable garden, and at every turn, every street corner, along hotels, houses, on the sides of roads, on roundabouts, along beaches, in tourist areas or nature reserves, in gardens and museums...
