Veules-les-Roses

Categorized in Normandy

Welcome to Veules-les-Roses, a hidden village on the French Normandy coast, where tranquil beauty meets the picturesque charm of a coastal village.

Located along the scenic Veules River, this village offers an idyllic getaway for lovers of old stones and travelers seeking tranquility.

Strolling through the narrow cobbled streets of Veules-les-Roses, we were charmed by its peaceful atmosphere and Norman architecture. The half-timbered houses bear witness to Norman history, and the flower-filled gardens give Veules-les-Roses a sense of traveling back in time, where time seems to stand still.

Veules-les-Roses Beach

One of the must-visit places in Veules-les-Roses is undoubtedly its pebble beach, lined with charming colorful cabins where, on sunny days, you can observe the opal-colored waters of the English Channel.

The Champs-Élisées of Veules-les-Roses

Don't miss walking along the Champs-Élisées Path in Veules-les-Roses, but you won't be breaking out your credit card here as there are no shops, only the sound of water and trees.

In this path, you'll inevitably come across the Anquetil Mill; a historic water mill in Veules, dating back to the 11th century and reputed to be the smallest working mill in France. We were very intrigued by this waterwheel that still operates, driven by the current of France's smallest river.

Do as we did, take a stroll along the Veules, lined with weeping willows, and listen to the gentle murmur of the water turning the mill wheels and the chorus of birds.

The gastronomy in Veules-les-Roses

Gastronomy enthusiasts will also be delighted in Veules-les-Roses, with a variety of restaurants and cafes offering culinary delights, local dishes, and especially, the Veules oysters with their confidential but highly appreciated production.
