Located on the southern coast of Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands, Papagayo Beach is an iconic spot on the island, known for its turquoise waters and the surreal scenery of a cove surrounded by ochre rocks.
First of all, be aware that access to this beach is quite complicated because the only possible route is a bumpy and rocky path. An SUV or 4x4 is recommended. If you have a small city car, it's possible but you'll need to drive very slowly...
The entrance fee is €5 per car. But once you're there, you won't regret having given a little of your money to the foundation that maintains the place. Papagayo Beach is a beautiful spot where you can relax in the sun, take photos, or even dine at the restaurant overlooking the cove.
To reach the beach, there are some steep stairs to descend. Alternatively, you can stay at the top and admire the view, both towards Papagayo Beach and on the other side, overlooking the Los Ajaches natural reserve.
We highly recommend this place if you are in Lanzarote; it's a must-see.
