Innsbruck
Categorized in Austria
Innsbruck, located in Tyrol, in the heart of the majestic Austrian Alps, is a city that combines history, culture, and nature.
During a road trip between Germany and Italy, we decided to make a stop in this city which, in the photos, looked beautiful and worth seeing! We loved it and highly recommend you to visit.
Note: To drive in Austria, you will need to purchase a vignette (valid for one year). It is possible to buy the vignette at highway rest areas. Avoid dubious websites and opt for a physical purchase at a gas station, for example. We bought ours in Germany just before the Austrian border.
Firstly, although it's paid, we parked in this parking lot in Innsbruck.
We then walked along Anichstraße street to reach the lively pedestrian street of Maria-Theresien-Straße.
At the end of this street, you can admire one of Innsbruck's most famous landmarks, the Goldenes Dachl. It's a museum, but its façade can be admired for free.
Next, we walked up Herzog-Friedrich-Straße street towards the Inn River, which runs through Innsbruck.
From the bridge over the Inn, you can admire the power of the river's current, bordered by colorful houses with the backdrop of the Alps. We loved this view.
We then visited another very famous landmark in Innsbruck, the 16th-century baroque Imperial Palace, now the Hofburg Museum.
If you find yourself in this region of Tyrol in Austria, we highly recommend visiting Innsbruck, which is a charming, historically rich, and enjoyable city.
