Fort de Brégançon
Categorized in French Riviera
We take you to the "Fort de Brégançon". Its reputation is well established, since it is the vacation residence of the French President. If you are on vacation in Bormes-les-Mimosas, you absolutely must come and admire this rocky promontory on the bay which was voted “the most beautiful bay in the world” in 2024.
The Fort is located at the tip of Cap Bénat, in a preserved natural setting. To get there, you cross several hills and a large forest of pines and cork oaks. The large wine estates complete the decor. The region's wine is very famous and we recommend that you travel the wine route. We had the opportunity to visit a few castles such as La Sanglière or Château Malherbes, which offer “aperitif” evenings in the summer. Their organic wine is of high quality for amateurs and is a real source of pride in the region and throughout the world.
Let's continue our route towards the beaches of Cabasson and Brégançon, located not far from there. Parking in the pine forest is regulated in summer (around 10 euros). Parking here is difficult, plan to arrive early in the morning. The waters are crystal clear and it feels like you are in Corsica or even in the Caribbean. The pine forest goes down to the sea. A hike on the coastal path is possible between Cabasson, Pèlegrin, le Grand Jardin and Léoube. Please note that some beaches are only accessible on foot. These are real hidden treasures, natural gems.
In winter, there is almost no one there, not even the President. The mild climate offers sunny days with temperatures close to 20°C. We often go there at the end of the day to admire one of the most beautiful sunsets on the Var coast. The views of the Mediterranean as well as the islands of Port-Cros and Porquerolles are breathtaking. When the weather turns windy, the kite surfers have a blast. The spot is magical.
The colors of the sunset give Fort de Brégançon golden hues on its stone walls. We really enjoy this mystical atmosphere we can find in this place steeped in history.
Now we are quite sure you got the point, this secret place is a heaven. We are happy to share it with you, but please respect the premises and keep it secret for as long as you can.
